2026 ACAC Futsal Championships

The Medicine Hat College Rattlers hosted the 2026 South Country Co-op ACAC Futsal Championships last weekend, culminating in a gold medal for the Rattlers Men’s Futsal team.

From Thursday, March 19, to Sunday, March 22, 16 different teams from across Alberta were hosted in Medicine Hat. Over 320 team delegates arrived to compete in the Snake Pit. The first day of competition was held on Friday, with both the Rattlers Men’s and Women’s Futsal teams winning their first games against the Lakeland Rustlers and Keyano Huskies, respectively. With those wins, both teams advanced to the semi-final stage.

On the second day of competition, the Rattlers Women’s Futsal team fell to the Concordia Thunder, who ended up winning the gold medal game later in the tournament. After winning their game against The King’s University and losing to the SAIT Trojans in the bronze medal game, the Rattlers Women’s Futsal team finished the 2026 Futsal season ranked fourth in the province.

For the Rattlers Men’s team, the semi-final had a different result. After winning their first game 9–4 against the Rustlers, the semi-final was also dominant for the Rattlers. A strong 7–2 win over their Highway 3 rivals, the Lethbridge Kodiaks, sent the Rattlers Men’s Futsal team to the gold medal game. The Rattlers were fated to play a rematch of the 2024 Futsal Championship and 2025 Soccer Championship: Medicine Hat Rattlers vs. NAIT Ooks.

On Sunday, the gold medal game was a blast for Rattler Nation. The support shown all weekend culminated in an amazing performance from the Rattlers Men’s Futsal team, with an impressive 7–3 win over the Ooks. The Player of the Game was #10 Joao Nascimento, who scored the first three goals of the game. The Rattlers' Tournament All-Stars were #1 Stefan Vrska and #12 Joao Cintra. The Tournament Most Valuable Player award was given to #10 Joao Nascimento after his stellar performance over the weekend.

After the competition, the ACAC Men’s Futsal trophy, which was already sitting in the MHC trophy case, returned to where it belongs for one more year. On the morning of March 25, 2026, the 2026 ACAC Men’s Futsal Champions banner was hung in the Snake Pit.
