Rattlers Men's Soccer signs twins to play under their father's leadership

The Medicine Hat College Rattlers are excited to announce the signing of twin brothers Irman and Kenan Omerovic to the Men's Soccer team for the upcoming 2026-27 season. The additions will bring a highly unique and special dynamic to the team, as the new signings will be playing under the leadership of their father, Rattlers Men's Soccer Head Coach Damir Omerovic.

For Head Coach Damir Omerovic, naturally, this signing is a bit different than the other prospects. It is the culmination of the family passion for soccer that brought father and sons closer.

"I feel fortunate to have coached them from a very young age and have seen the work and commitment they've put in over the years playing the game they love," said Damir Omerovic of his sons. "Watching how far they've come to reach this moment means a lot. As a coach, I know what they can do on the field. As a father, I know what it took to get here. Proud of both of them, and excited to see them take this next step at the collegiate level."

A family business is actually nothing new for the Medicine Hat College Rattlers. In recent years, more family ties have accidentally, or naturally, become part of Rattlers' Athletics.

In 2025, when Women's Basketball Head Coach Chad Watson joined the team, his daughter, Abby Watson, was already an established part of the Rattlers roster. While Abby was forced to sit out last season due to a knee injury, she is expected to be back this next fall, continuing their father-daughter journey at MHC.

A similar situation happened to Rattlers Women's Volleyball. Last October, Savannah Armstrong was announced as one of the first new additions to the 2026-27 Rattlers Women's Volleyball roster. Just recently, Medicine Hat College announced Marshall Armstrong as their new Head Coach for the Women's Volleyball program. With that, another father-daughter connection will be seen in the Snake Pit.

As the Rattlers look ahead to the 2026-27 season, the college is proud to foster an environment where family, community, and high-level athletics play a pivotal part in the Athletics programs.
