James King announced as Women's Hockey Head Coach
The Medicine Hat College (MHC) Rattlers Athletics is thrilled to announce the appointment of James King as the new Head Coach of the Rattlers Women's Hockey program.
 
With nearly two decades of coaching excellence and a proven commitment to athlete development, King brings a wealth of experience and community-focused leadership to the role.
 
King, a Medicine Hat College alumnus and longtime advocate for female athletic development, has coached championship teams across multiple sports, including hockey, soccer, baseball, and softball. His resume includes provincial titles such as the 2016-2017 U13 A Provincial Champions, 2019 Little League Canadian Junior Champions, and the 2017-2018 U13 AA Provincial Champions. Most recently, he served as Assistant Coach for the Medicine Hat U18 AA SCAHL South Division League Champions (2022-2023).
 
"We are pleased with the hiring of James, and excited to see what he can do with the development of the program going forward," said Terry Ballard, Director of Athletics for the Rattlers.
 
A certified NCCP coach with qualifications including Development 1 Certification and Hockey Alberta's Professional Development Clinics, King emphasizes creating positive environments where athletes thrive both on and off the ice. With strong ties to the Medicine Hat sports community, King is committed to continue developing an elite level female hockey program in Medicine Hat.
