The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Stefan Vrska of the Medicine Hat College Rattlers has been selected as the 2024-2025 ACAC Men's Overall Rookie of the Year.
Stefan Vrska had an outstanding rookie season, making an immediate impact in both soccer and futsal. In outdoor soccer, he was the second-ranked goalkeeper in the ACAC South for total saves, stopping 54 shots in nine games. His efforts were crucial in keeping the Rattlers competitive throughout the season, keeping the Rattlers' playoff hopes alive until the final weekend of competition. His impressive performance earned him the title of ACAC South Male Soccer Rookie of the Year.
In futsal, Stefan played a key role in the Rattlers' dominant season, leading the team to a first-place finish in the ACAC South (6-1-3) and a gold medal at the ACAC Championship (3-0-1). He was the top goalkeeper in the championship, conceding the fewest goals while playing all four games. His strong presence in net solidified the Rattlers' defense as the best in the tournament, earning him both Futsal South Second Team All-Conference and a Futsal Tournament All-Star selection.

Stefan is an outstanding young man, great in the classroom, volunteers in the community and excels on the soccer pitch and the futsal floor. Being a goalkeeper, Stefan is very steadying presence for his teams and gives his team a chance to stay in the game and win every time out.”
Stefan's dedication extended beyond competition, as he contributed 12.5 hours to community involvement, including goalkeeper coaching and volunteering at the Rattlers events. His strong leadership and commitment were also recognized with academic honors, including the National Scholar Award and the ACAC Academic Athletic Award.
Originally from Regina, Saskatchewan, Stefan is in his first year of the University Transfer Science program at Medicine Hat College and has ambitious plans with the Rattlers for his second year in the league.
