Athletes of the Week - February 25

We are excited to announce the Rattlers Players of the Week, sponsored by Cheerleaders Barber Lounge and BYZ Enterprises, recognizing two athletes for their outstanding performances this past weekend.

#1 Abby Lalach - Women's Futsal

After a long weekend of games, Abby Lalach led the second-best defense in the south to the ACAC 2025 Futsal Playoffs.

Winning three out of four games, Lalach played a pivotal role for the Rattlers. Leading the team from the back, the goalkeeper from Cranbrook, B.C., once again proved why she is the reigning ACAC Futsal Rookie of the Year.

The Rattlers women's futsal team finished the weekend with a narrow one-goal loss to the SAIT Trojans, who lead the south division. Up next, Abby Lalach and the Rattlers will compete in the ACAC Futsal Playoffs, hosted by Lakeland College. They will face the NAIT Ooks on March 6 at 8 a.m.

Lalach is in her second year of the Education program and will make her ACAC playoff debut in a couple of weeks.

#12 Joao Cintra - Men's Futsal

After the second weekend of regionals, Joao Cintra scored six more goals to help the Rattlers men's futsal team secure first place in the south for the playoffs.

Cintra entered the weekend leading the league in goals and did not disappoint after three more games. He scored against the Red Deer Kings and Olds Broncos before delivering a standout performance against the SAIT Trojans, finding the back of the net four times.

In his first season with the Rattlers, Cintra had an exceptional outdoor campaign, leading the league in goals for most of the season. Now in futsal, he continues to be a key player for the Rattlers, contributing not only six goals but also five assists over the past weekend.

Hailing from Salvador, Brazil, Cintra is in his second year in the league while pursuing his Business Diploma at Medicine Hat College.
