João Cintra, Medicine Hat Rattlers, Men's Soccer

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

In his first two official games wearing the Rattlers jersey, João Cintra made an immediate impact by scoring three crucial goals.

The Brazilian midfielder netted two penalty kicks against the Red Deer Kings and followed that up with a stunning free kick goal against Olds College. João joined the Rattlers early this summer, after playing his first year of eligibility at SAIT. Since his arrival, he has been pivotal in the midfield, playing just behind the last line of attack and creating numerous opportunities for the Rattlers' strikers.

In the home opener, João confidently stepped up to take a penalty kick, showing no fear under pressure. Calm and composed, he placed the ball exactly where he intended, sending the keeper one way and the ball the other, as if he were following the unwritten rules of soccer brilliance.

Now in his second year of ACAC competition, the General Studies student from Fortaleza, Brazil, is thriving in the Rattlers' colors, and his performance on the pitch continues to impress.
